When hair loss starts, the typical mechanism is the disruption of the hair growth cycle. It occurs in two ways happening at the same time; 1) hair shedding faster than usual, 2) poor re-grow or no growth back at all. Hereditary male and female pattern baldness (Androgenetic Alopecia ) is the most common cause of hair loss. But there can be other conditions that cause hair loss;

⦁ Pre-existing medical conditions (i.e., thyroid disorders, anemia, chemo-radiotherapy, etc. )
⦁ Drugs and medication-induced alopecia (i.e., anticonvulsants, blood thinners, BP drugs, etc. )
⦁ Stress and trauma
⦁ Dietary deficiency
⦁ Alopecia Areata (Autoimmune alopecia)
⦁ Scarring alopecia, scalp disorders and infections
⦁ Traction Alopecia (Hair loss due to excessive tension)
⦁ Hair-pulling disease in which there is an irresistible urge to pull out hair (trichotillomania)
